  • I think the number of Trump supporters who can spell H1B is very few, let alone those that care about it. Maybe some of the grifters are waking up to the fact that they’ll never be as “in-group” as they thought, but that’s a very small minority.

I see some of these leopard-face-eating stories and think, “Will this be the thing that is awful enough to get my MAGA family to admit they were duped?” No. The answer is always no.

If Donald Trump himself leads the jack boot goon squad who kicks in the door of their trailer and drags them out into the street to be lit on fire while Trump smashes a cheeseburger into his face and laughs at them by name, their last choked, rasping words would be about the evil Demon-crats ruining the nation.

We’ve got at least four more years of this and I don’t have the energy for hope.

Eight years ago I would have agreed. But, I think we’ve demonstrated the short comings of putting authority for our most important policies in the hands of your average citizen.

I don’t have a better answer, mind you. Hopefully someone way further right on the “average citizen” bell curve has better ideas.

  • Aside from coding assistants, the other use case I’ve come across recently is sentiment analysis of large datasets from free text survey responses. Just started exploring it so not sure how well it works yet, but the ridiculous amount of bias I see introduced in manual reviews is just awful. A machine can potentially be less inclined to try fitting summaries to the VP’s presupposed opinion than some lackie interns or self serving consultancy.
