Not a fan of it by any means, but it shit down ~11 days ago and no one mentioned it.

Every link to something on the instance redirects to this: https://imgur.com/XpxDJTg

Since lemmy posts are links, every image post is now that image.

The admin (local account on lemm.ee https://lemm.ee/u/hamid@vegantheoryclub.org ) said it was because of the harassment culture on lemmy (https://lemm.ee/post/64686772 ), and blamed sunshine and beaver for doing something? (https://lemm.ee/post/63664605/20610349 – the post this is in reply to is gone, but the comment is in the local copy of the person’s profile.)

Anyone know what happened?

Some people interpret mild criticism they receive as a war crime.

For some reason (I genuinely don’t really know why), this tends to be coupled with aiming wild unhinged criticism at other people semi constantly. When it’s traveling outwards, it’s fine.

It was a long saga of me documenting a few examples of his problematic views on issues, then followed by him reacting strongly towards the reception. He has sent me a group invite on matrix before shutting down the instance which I declined because of the disrespectful language he has used towards me in the past.

VTC has defederated from Lemmy.world, Lemmy.ca and SJW for being “too right-wing”

The user Hamid wont be pleased being discussed on !fedilore@lemmy.ca again.

Here are some links and screenshots for context on the whole situation:

The wild thing is, I actually agree with Hamid’s self-described stance he leads off with here, about places like NCD. I unsubscribed from one of the Ukraine communities because they kept posting videos of dying Russian soldiers, and I completely agree with Hamid’s self-expressed horror at the NCD type of video game aficionado “big fan of Russians dying every time” mindset which doesn’t seem to have a lot of understanding of what they’re really rooting for. I definitely can detect some amount of that in my own postings and there are people who take it a lot further than I do.

Where me and Hamid have issues is that he seems to take that type of reaction to anything less than full throated full agreement with literally 100% of what he has to say about anything. He can’t seem to see any kind of discrepancy between “let’s literally kill everyone in Israel they all deserve it, even the toddlers” versus “well Ukraine fighting back isn’t something to celebrate, you know those Russian soldiers are victims too” and he will viciously attack you as a monstrous piece of shit on a personal level if you disagree with either one of those statements.

And then, of course, he’ll combine that with whining extensively if anyone has the temerity to disagree or criticize him on anything. Like yes buddy. I know people who’ve been crippled by the US empire machine. I’m by all means not in favor of it, especially not now. That still means I can tell you to go fuck yourself and your viewpoint in some area where I think you’re wrong. I’m not trying to be unsympathetic but you are extremely unsympathetic to anyone who isn’t you, so it’s hard to take you seriously when you demand super kind treatment from the people you’re simultaneously shitting on and defederating.

I almost feel bad for that user they seem to take everything way to personally and that’s not a great headspace on the internet even if you try to curate it into a personal safe space.

I mean it’s a pretty influential instance since that’s where the lead developers reside. It would be pretty normal for everyone using lemmy to have them “live rent free in their heads”

“live rent free in their heads” doesn’t mean to be aware of someone, it’s talking about obsession. That cm lad constantly tries to bring up “.ml” out of nowhere to incite drama, and I just took a glance at their user profile and holy moly it’s almost entirely just reposting from lemmy.ml.

Like just look at https://lemmy.world/post/30613970/17403019, a content creator is asking them to stop reposting their work to a certain community and telling them how it’s harmful, and cm0002 is just using that as an excuse to handwave it and soapbox. This is unhealthy antisocial behaviour.

            Lol

            1. I don’t do it out of “no where” I generally stick to relevant threads

            2. I have plenty of my own posts. In general, I try to aim for a 1:2 ratio, for every crosspost I post 2 articles/content that aren’t cross-posts (.ml isn’t actually all that busy lmao)

            3. lemmy.ml is probably the biggest threat to the long term viability of the Lemmy-verse. It’s just so amazing(/S) to come across comments out in the wild on say Reddit that goes along the lines of “I tried that Lemmy place, but it seemed to be just a bunch of tankies/run be Tankies” because they had the misfortune to land on lemmy.ml

stop reposting their work to a certain community and telling them how it’s harmful

Yea, harmful to the .ml instance …which is kinda the whole point of a boycott, to put pressure on the target to either change their ways or fall to irrelevancy

It’s really quite simple, hamid@vegantheoryclub.org was an up and coming Tankie and was absolutely aligning their instance with the Tankie Triad.

As for why .ml is a “Tankie Instance” in general, and documentation of it, you can see the recap post

I’m not stupid, I know that .m(arxist)l(eninist) is a tankie instance. But what the other user stated, that you’ve made it your entire personality to bring it up whenever possible, also rings true ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lol, how else do you spread awareness for something you’re passionate about if not to bring it up “whenever possible” (ofc assuming wherever possible meaning, at least tentatively related). Do you not see them doing the exact same thing with their wall of links? LMAO

Also, I just noticed the other user was banned hours ago for Voting manipulation soooo yea take that as you will lolol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nah, I’ll take a day off when lemmy.ml either gets shutdown, defederated from or an actual fair and unbiased admin team is put in place.
