I don’t even get it, it’s not an offensive comic, the artist has a good sense of topical humor, nothing about it is edgy by today’s standards.
I feel like it’s the exact same thing that happened with figures like Greta Thunberg, where some chud got ahead of it by doing some “cringe reaction” bullshit and since then it’s all people associate with the content because people broadly are easily swayed even by people they wouldn’t normally agree with.
No, really, everyone needs to understand this: your opinions are not your own, the more you think they are, the more likely you’ve been influenced by someone, somewhere. Whenever you see a lot of people hating on something for no real reason, it’s just mindless herd mentality.
I’m sure someone is now going to type up a reply explaining exactly why they hate it… after just now thinking about it for the first time.
I was completely out of the loop with who this creator was when I one day scrolled through /r/comics/top, wasn’t aware of the drama, the circlejerk, you name it.
Her comedy is bottom of the barrel, obvious, decades old takes, that appeal to an era of the internet when comedy was written by those who had the technical know-how to engage with the internet - i.e., unfunny people.
Panel 1: she’s eating airline food, followed by 3 panels of silly “yucky food” faces. Final panel “you expect people to eat this stuff??”.
Panel 1: “honey will you take out the trash” followed by 3 frames of a guy beating up trash. Final frame, pizza cake self insert looking exasperated at the mess.
Panel 1: she’s excitedly buying stuff from the bargain bin, followed by 3 panels of all her purchases falling apart. Final panel - the “bargain” sticker falls off of “bargain bin”. She has exasperated look with hair pointing out.
Panel 1: she’s sleeping awkwardly, followed by three panels of different awkward sleeping poses. Final panel, husband is waking up refreshed, she says “maybe we need to swap pillows”
All of these are technically jokes and/or observations, but just know that if you think these are worth illustrating and sharing, what you consider good comedy is about 15-30 seconds of effort, or the absolute first thing that came to my mind.
People don’t like PC because her comics sit amongst others who exert effort to - at the very least - add a second layer to their comedy. It’s unearned accolades given to the undeserving.
Yah i don’t care, it’s not worth the hate. It feels pretty fucking bourgeoisie to organize around hating someone who just doesn’t live up to what you want in a creator while we have actual democracy falling across the world. Just don’t look at the comics.
If that’s not working, that means she’s living in your head and you need to figure out why.
I ain’t organising to hate her, like I said, I don’t care about any of the circlejerk. And I can use meaningless buzz words too if you like.
“It’s pretty fucking authoritarian to silence criticism of art. Just don’t look at my comment, I’m living in your head and you need to figure out why”
Oh yeah I’m being educated already about her eeeeeevil misdeeds from others here, and I also know that very artist online has had some drama about permission or IP and if that’s why they’re attacking someone who is ostensibly posting material that is broadly helpful to progressive ideology, then maybe these folks just need to get out of their echo-chambers and bubble worlds and have actual debates with actual bad people.
More like PCC’s rabid fans are making this like reddit. It was reddit where she threatened to sue over parodies of her comics… I don’t think we need toxic shit like PCC over here at lemmy
The pizzacake haters are proving this place is similar to reddit.

Ooh, my opinion is my own here.

Bourgeois* is the adjective
Bourgeoisie is a noun

See, fairly pointless rhetoric.
I mean, I looked at the drama and she was overzealous, that’s about it. That’s not the worst artist.

I rarely even come across them.
Lord forbid there is comics in the comics community.
