This isn’t just relevant to Lemmy because it’s culturally intertwined with Lemmy but also because there’s a search engine database now that acts as a registry for anyone promoting any of the mass shooters (Luigi, Robin, Tyler, etc.).
China currently bans anyone from entering who denies their narrative about Tiananmen Square. It’s the same deal here. There’s also a couple of already-controversial Lemmy users who are collaborating with the US government by judas-kissing everyone after having honeypotted them. One of them having been infamous for banning people who promoted “blind alignment with Luigi Mangione” [sic].
I’m confused. Is it just users furnishing the gov with usernames? Or is it mods, who could potentially have access to a user’s email used to sign up with their instance? Do mods have access to that, or just admins?
You can spin up your own instance and see a whole bunch of shit like IP addresses, vote history, etc.
I think it would be naive to think that the various 3 letter agencies wouldn’t have their own instance to surveill us.
A mix of all the above. Recall that time in American history that Orwell ratted on his comrades.
