I despise Leto as much as the next person. But credit where credit is due, I did enjoy his role in House Of Gucci. But that might be his broken clock moment.

He’s an OK actor, even great in a few roles.

It’s so annoying how anyone disliked on the internet has to be a failure at literally everything and any concession of talent is interpreted as you being their #1 fan who endorses everything they’ve ever done.

I don’t like the guy and won’t pay to watch his movies because he’s a creep.

It’s possible to be a shitty person and be talented.

This is like trans people calling out a movie that has a trans person played by a cis actor. Hear me out, my point is less offensive than it sounds at first. The guy is a sociopath. If you want a sociopath in your movie, hire a real one. Like, certain actors can be great at a ton of different roles, but trying to get a truly chilling role out of tom Hanks would be far more difficult than with Leto. The same could be said about Leto playing a hero. It just doesn’t work. There’s tons of actors who have done real good work playing villains most of their career. Just accept that that’s who Leto is, that dark, chilling, creepy fucker that everyone wants to see die at the end. That’s the roles he should get. And really the only roles he’s good at. Even an antihero like morbius just doesn’t work. He needs to be full on villain.

You can just say the roles he was good in were written for him, the whole trans metaphor you have at the beginning of your paragraph really threw me because it’s extremely random and pretty clunky.

I do get your point though, he’s good at playing a creep because it’s close to his original personality.

That’s the point I was making. If you want to get the real emotions and headspace of a trans person, who better to do it than a trans person? If you want a sociopath, who better to get in the headspace than a sociopath?

I can’t say I’ve ever seen Jared Leto in any role aside from his (practically nonspeaking btw) role in Fight Club.

Maybe YOU think he’s okay as an actor. I just think most people haven’t seen any evidence of that, but they have seen him be a colossal failure (Joker role, Morbius) and have only really heard bad things about him.

Probably the reason why people are interpreting you as being his #1 fan is because you’re defending him and you really don’t need to.

I think it’s possible to separate the art from the artist. He can be a huge piece of shit with no ability to “read the room” as it were… but still be a good actor under the right circumstances.
