  • Now that I’m vegetarian, I even still get this. I just don’t understand this. Something like 5% or so are vegetarians in this country and yet there still seems to be this prevailing “wisdom” that getting protein is a major and possibly even life-threatening concern.

I suppose a lot of it comes down to marketing. All these items on menus and bits of processed food have big indicators of how many grams of protein they have in them as if it’s a health food or something. That, and of course all the money behind SAD marketing that leads people to think beef and dairy are not horrible for their health, but actually good for them, possibly even necessary for survival…and of course, don’t get me started on the certain class of men that think they’ll turn gay or into women if they don’t eat meat, LOL. Now THAT is marketing.

  • In the first few years out of college, I was able to really stretch my dollar with dry beans and rice and a big bag of yellow onions. I had salt and pepper and sometimes I’d add some butter for flavor. I’d chuckle as people would ask “but where do you get your PROTEIN” when I was using this for a lot of my dinners: “uh, the butter and the rice and the beans? Not to mention the other meals?”. Sometimes, I would throw this in a container and take to work for lunch when things were especially tight.

Nutritional beliefs in this country are still pretty terrible, but back then, even as an omnivore for every other meal, when I’d eat only rice and beans for dinner, I’d get serious concern from family and friends about this, like I was going to die from a protein deficiency. Still makes me shake my head…I think most people have such a silly view of things that they actually assume that protein is a synonym for “beef”.

  • Well, if they let people like Alex Jones take a dump in their skull on the regular, they can be led to believe that Big Government Liberals/World Economic Forum/Bilderburgs/Freemasons/The Trilateral Commission/The Jews are laying plans to have them to own nothing and eat bugs and/or give up the mass consumption of meat and dairy or whatever the heck the crazies like Alex are telling them these days.

So they vote for donvict because “he’ll fight the deep state and the globalists”…and what will they end up with as a result? They’ll end up kicked even harder by austerity measures.

  • I don’t know if the Republicans have any idea of how to deal with what is coming when it comes to the job market. If software eats the world, AI will eat software…and even all the “good” jobs will soon be scarce to nil - turns out even the “creative” jobs can and will be automated. As expected, the C-suite stuff could be some of the easiest stuff to automate, but that’s not where they are going to start eliminating jobs, as you can well imagine. I think some people - myself included - thought that things like trucking and mining would be reduced to basically zero jobs first. But they are shooting for things like writers, animators, software developers, basic lawyer stuff, tax preparation, and it’s quite possible those jobs will be most impacted first. So telling your kids to level up on skills? Well, you can fuck right off with any of those skills unless you have a massive pile of money, too.

How are we going to determine how to distribute all the wealth being created when jobs are increasingly going to disappear? We have been playing musical chairs all this time and now the music stops, and it just means that more and more wealth is accrued by dipshits like Elon, while everyone else is kicked harder?

I wonder how long the broligarchs really think that will last? These assholes are building bunkers for a reason, and it’s because they know full well the guillotines are going to come out if this reaches what looks to be an obvious conclusion.
