Meh, the last time I’ve been in one was 2011. Too expensive for what it is, and plenty of other options in my city.
From what it seems to me, the megachurches are doing okay. It’s the more traditional denominations that are suffering. Overall religion might be on a decline, but certain sects are flourishing. One silver lining about some of the megachurches is that they’re led by a strong personality and once they’re gone, the whole organization putters out. They’re more organized around an individual than a theology.
I worry that neoliberalism may need fascism in order to be fully realized.
I stayed in one years ago after moving to a new city and it surprised me to see a school bus stop and pick up kids living there.
I think it’s reasonable to go for a pretty standard flavor in that setting to have a reference point. I kind of do that with pizza, pepperoni the first time I try a new restaurant and if it’s good I’ll try other toppings the next time.

A vasectomy is a hell of a deal.
I agree, it’s very absurd, and that’s part of the point. It’s also obvious too that someone gives a shit since they’re willing to shell out millions of dollars for it. And as far as taping another piece of fruit to the wall, it unlikely to do well because with modern and conceptual art, it’s all about who came up with the idea first.
It’s really just one of a limited number of licenses which allows the owner of the license to showcase the work and legally regard it as an official work from the artist who first came up with the idea. Anyone can tape a banana to a wall, but only a few can do so and say that it’s an ‘original’.
I wonder how long it’ll last before it gets all spammy.
I play around with the paid version of chatgpt and I still don’t have any practical use for it. it’s just a toy at this point.
Better do it before the full power of exponential growth kicks in.
I predict that nations will simply start blowing up satellites in space, creating a shroud of debris which will make space exploration nearly impossible.
I typically see an overreliance on Facebook , cable news and talk radio.
I’m all for giving credit where credit is due.
While I get the altruistic impulse to intervene, I do also know that some people want to spend their life alone. Have no desire to have anyone involved in their lives. They’re totally at peace checking out of life by themselves, on their own terms. I do think it’s important to respect their wishes.
I virtue signaled 7 years ago when the whole Cambridge Analytica scandal broke, realizing that Facebook is a seedy company that can’t be trusted.
