I’m pretty sure texas still has conversion camps, I’d be surprised if other states didn’t still have them.

Not to mention the Song of Solomon

That didn’t stop them from deporting people to Mexico in the 30s. A senator at the time estimated that 60% of those who were removed from the country were US Citizens
If I recall correctly, it would be Air Force Two.

You’re welcome. It’s important to know our rights and what’s at stake if we lose them. We need to be prepared for what may come.
They wrote it broadly and I’m sure did some research to ensnare more people. When these people say they liked the 50s, they were also talking about the Lavender Scare with McCarthty and I’m sure would love to see a revival of the purge.
This is from the TX sodomy law. Oral sex, anal sex, women touch another woman’ breast in a sexual manner, and sex toys are outlawed. The law is pretty comprehensive and seems to cover everyone in the community.
"Sec. 21.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) “Deviate sexual intercourse” means:
(A) any contact between any part of the genitals of one person and the mouth or anus of another person; or
(B) the penetration of the genitals or the anus of another person with an object.
(2) “Sexual contact” means, except as provided by Section 21.11 or 21.12, any touching of the anus, breast, or any part of the genitals of another person with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person. … Sec. 21.06. HOMOSEXUAL CONDUCT. (a) A person commits an offense if he engages in deviate sexual intercourse with another individual of the same sex.
(b) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor."
If the Supreme Court strikes down Lawrence v TX (the ruling that struck down anti-spdomy laws) homosexual acts will only be illegal in states with anti-sodomy laws on the books. California is not one of those states. California has a law against sex acts with a minor, but not sex acts between consenting adults.
Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas all have statutes criminalizing consensual sodomy on the books and, if scotus reveals Lawrence, homosexual acts will be criminal once again.
At least Allred was able to pull in some Republicans that voted foe Trump.
Last I checked, Cruz has 200,000 less votes than Trump and Allred had 100,000 votes more than Harris.
It’s so disappointing that Allred is behind by 1,000,000 votes, which is close to the number of voters purged IIRC.
This seems like bad behavior to me, doing something explicitly forbidden by the Constitution. Given that the Constitution says a justice shall “hold their office during good Behavior”, he should be terminated from his position of power.
This guy probably just received a few months in jail, if even that. Even standing there with a flag identifying himself as a Confederate soldier, AKA enemy combatant. That is the Battle Flag of the Confederate Army and Navy, they should not be given any more leniency than we would give soldiers of other countries threatening our officials and taking over the Capitol building.
But only over Clinton’s emails, not W’s emails.
"If the Republican candidate dies or is incapacitated after the convention and before Election Day, the Republican National Committee (RNC) will meet to select a presidential candidate and/or vice-presidential candidate under Rule 9 of party rules.
…
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is also authorized to select the party’s nominee in the event that the winner of the convention cannot run. This is spelled out in the charter of the Democrat Party. However, since DNC members are awarded to states according to the size of the states, there would be no adjustments.
…
If the candidate dies or is incapacitated after Election Day, the Constitution kicks in. The first milestone will be the December 17, 2023, meetings of the electoral college. It may surprise many to know that the electoral college is composed of real flesh and blood electors who meet in their state capitols and sign documents (attestations) that are forwarded on to the president of the Senate (the vice president) for the purposes of counting only! We only hear about electors when someone decides to make a point and vote for someone whose slate they were not on. (During segregation some of these so-called “faithless electors” voted for segregationist candidates.1) Some states have laws binding electors to vote for the winner of the election, others do not. If the winner of the convention dies or is incapacitated it is likely that the legislature would quickly meet to amend the law so that their votes would count.
Finally, what if the president-elect dies or is incapacitated after the electoral college meets and before the inauguration? The authors of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, the one adopted to provide for a way to pick a new vice president, thought of this. If the president-elect dies or is incapacitated the vice president is inaugurated. Section 3 of the 20th Amendment reads:
“If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President.”"
Depends on when the death occurs. I don’t know what would happen if the death occurred after the people vote, but before the electors cast their votes.
He said himself, in early 2016 I think, that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and he wouldn’t lose any votes.
There will be Trump supporters for sure. But don’t forget Trump received more votes in CA than TX in 2020 and Biden received more votes in TX than NY.
Hopefully Millenials and Gen Z will step up this election to keep the Republicans from bringing back the Lavender Scare.
Tx has been moving towards flipping blue.
Clinton lost by ~800,000 votes (5% of registered voters) and Biden lost by ~640,000 votes (~3.5% of registered voters). This year, TX is breaking records for early voting turnout, and, historically speaking, Democrats win with high turnout. In just 4 days, TX has cast almost 1/4 as many votes as the entire 2020 election and that’s during the first week of early voting when the polls are only required to be open 9 hours a day. We still haven’t seen the turnout for this weekend or next week, when polls are open at least 12 hours a day.
Clinton lost by 800,000 votes (5% of registered voters) and Biden by 640,000 votes(3.5% of registered voters). It has been getting much closer. We could flip this year if voter turnout keeps this pace.
QR codes weren’t a big thing at that time and weren’t integrated into the first smart phones, eventually you could download an app to use a QR code. However those weren’t really in use in education settings until closer to 2015.
