A buddhist vegan goth with questionable humour.
I GM two groups, both in pathfinder 1e.
In one group every player has played three or four characters by now. Death can happen at any time and that is part of the challenge they have to overcome. It’s how they prefer it, always having high stacked against them. They are all about min-maxing their builds and finding ways to make my live hard coming up with more or less creative ways to counter their stuff.
In the other grou0 the characters have very clear plot armour, which we agreed upon beforehand. The players have developed their characters and take their fun from seeing how the adventures they have changes, develops and fleshed put their characters. They can die, but we agreed beforehand that there always will be a way of coming back from the dead at some point.
They just prefer role-playing and their challenge is to solve situations in a way that they as players and their characters feel good about. If they fuck it up in how they approach things they still will kill the bad guy in the end and live trough it, but its the difference between leaving back a smouldering ruin full of corpses or a village that sends them back on their way as heroes.
I can appreciate both playstyles and keep them in mind when I give challenges to the two groups. Non feels lame to me. It’s just very different ways of playing.
It’s baseivly the difference between early season game of throes where everything could happen to anybody and the more tradional style of series, where main character almost never die but the story is about their inner growth and how they deal with what the world throws at them.
Underrated point. I started out with all the usual bloatware and, at best, a rudamentary feeling why that might be bad. I ditched Windows by now and are activly trying to get rid of Google and their likes, replacing more and more apps with foss alternatives. Trying to pull my family in too. That simply not would have happend without beeing exposed to this by Lemmy.
Let me try to engage with the last point rationally.
Yes, of course, Vegans take supplements. At least B12 is a required.
I personally don’t think that makes it a “bad” diet.
From my perspective, it is the morally correct way of living, for many reasons, one of them beeing that it causes the least amount of suffering for sentient beeing.
The point you are making (and correct me if I am wrong) is that taking supplements means it’s not a natural way of eating, hence the need for supplements.
I agree. It is not.
But there are plenty of things that are natural for us, but we have decided that they are morally bad and hence should not be practiced. Violence, for example, is so natural in humans that even after thousands of years of civilisation we still require laws to regulate or punish it, alongside “outlets” for our violence (like Marital Arts or Video Games). I am sure you can think of other things that are natural to humans, but are considered immoral.
Eating animals is, in my opinion, just the next step in that line. It’s something that was needed once but is not any longer, at least for the vast majority of people (as you hinted at in the first half of your comment).
Just in case anybody has an hour to spare, this is a YouTube video summarising all 14 parts. I have no idea why I watched this, tbh. I never even heared of the damn movies. I guess sometime it’s three a clock and these things just happen.
If the image of the dead deer didn’t fuck you over, the article links to a far worse thing:
A YouTube video of a person having 150 of them removed surgecally from their nose.
Didn’t you know that consumerism is not conservatism? No? Neither did I, but the good people of r/conservative think so all of the sudden. Somehow.
You are right, but the details are a bit of.
So there were two kinda of slavery. For Israeli the concept of indentured slavery was applied: 7 years and then you were free. But if you married during that time and had children, your wife and children remeined slaves.
So masters tried to find wife’s for their indentured slaves, because most likley people won’t leave back their family after 7 years. So Israeli slaves could pledge themselves to their masters for live.
When you buy a male Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, but in the seventh he shall go out a free person, without debt. 3 If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out alone. 5 But if the slave declares, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out a free person,’ 6 then his master shall bring him before God. He shall be brought to the door or the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve him for life.
For non Israeli (Gentils) their was just plain and simple slavery.
44 As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. 45 You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you and from their families who are with you who have been born in your land; they may be your property. 46 You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness.
So these are people living in Canada that are imprisoned at the border to the US, even tough they have no intention of entering?
Like, wtf?!
Not American. What border is this? Are they accidentally attempting to leave the US for Canada due to a wrong turn and are snatched up? Can’t they turn around before they reach the border?
I was with you in the first half. But shouldn’t there be some out of game communication between “This is not the direction we agreed upon beforehand” and “I will kill your character as punishment”?
Na, it’s been like this in Trump 1. It’s because they realy do not give a fuck about humans, even the ones on their side. They are just pawns to be used and disregarded at will.
I am a dad to one year old twins and I feel this comment in my bones.
Glückwunsch und Willkommen :-)
Or are chearing it on. When they say “I think Trump is doing good but the Tariffs are Bullshit” this kind of thing is part of the doing good.
Oh… So that’s what they mean when they say the can’t bring him back. It’s been there, out in the open, all this time.
Also reminds me about how PF1es Kingmaker handeles armies.
Sounds like fun, yeah. How did you approach that mechanically? Asking for a group of friends ;-)
And by choice. Uh, a user has a different opinion than me by about 2 %? BLOCKED FOR LIVE MOTHRFUCKER
