  • Right!? That’s the thing though, isn’t it? ‘Influencers’ could also mean ‘teachers’, ‘parents’, etc. Like many words, there’s the traditional meaning, and the new ‘context needed’ meaning. So many unnecessary conflicts occur due to the misunderstanding. I love watching Alec’s videos because I always learn truly fascinating things. Am I being influenced? Yes. Am I hoarding Stanley Water Cups or buying trending doughnut boxes? No. I get to make more informed decisions because of Technology Connections.

  • For clarity - you would be okay with someone being sent to one of these facilities if they had a little tattoo of a peace sign on there leg? Or a butterfly on their arm? Or does it need to be a sleeve of demonic symbols? This sounds like it could be a spectrum thing and some of us aren’t understanding your comments. It sounds like you’re okay with someone being sent to one of these horrific facilities merely beacuse you don’t like something they did.

  • This may be symptomatic of the issue being addressed. Would we be more willing to get the phone repaired if we felt more ownership of it? My hands are tied if the device was designed without repeatability in mind and the manufacturer has no intention of volunteering assistance - so I must complain. In our current system, we don’t have many options to choose from. I look forward to your thoughts.

Also I believe ‘bricked’ is a result of it becoming inoperable. Our devices aren’t easily repaired so they will become ‘bricked’ SOONER than if designed to run unlocked boot systems and OS’s. Feeling more ownership of your device may lead you to be more careful with it and only entrust it with reputable technicians.
