  • I think you are over thinking it too much.

It’s not a fun or easy process to find someone you can trust to talk to. Especially when you know people that had to go through multiple professionals to find one what works for them.

Make it much easier to get in a room and use any benefits you have and it will cause a lot more people to use the services that are available to them.

If we’re all had personal assistants then this would not look the way does.

That being said there is a learned behavior that many people grew up with that doesn’t make it easy to recognize when you should actually be talking to someone. Decades and centuries of raising young men to handle their own problems. Provide and protect those in your life and who are your responsibility doesn’t leave a lot of room for going to talk about your day.

I can use an myself as an example. I’m working 10 to 12 hour days 5 days a week. another hours on saturday, leaving me 1 day a week to try to unwind.

I dont get paid overtime, and have over 200 hours of vacation unused because i get time off in lieu of(at 1to1 rate which is also bullshit)

The absolute last thing i want to be doing is talking about and reviewing and reminding me of all the shit in my life that just having my bills paid and enough left over to have some hobbies outside the house, and enough to go on vacation with all this time owed to me, not out trying to expand my thoughts to someone who doesn’t know a anything about me or my life.

Spending my precious time i have available to me sure isnt going to be spent making me feel even shittier by bringing up all garbage i have had to deal with the last while

I have a hard time communicating and it’s likely to cause me more stress trying to speak with someone about my problems than it is to listen to some really good music and go for a really long walk and smoke a joint and forget about the shit show i have to get back to.

Problem is its just money, the lack there of, that has been an issue my entire life. I make about 27 dollars an hour and can barely afford to live. Talking to a mental health progessional may be beneficial, if i get lucky and

  • What are you trying to achieve. What is your goal here. What is it you are attempting to accomplish?

I literally did the math for you. Three hundred twenty thousand people is less than zero point zero zero four percent of eight billion two hundred million people also known as one hundred percent of people who drank dihydrogen monoxide

I never claimed water cant kill people, i pointed out a flawed claim and then gave the correct information they should have used

  • Im only respond to your words: that only wealthy elites care about. Pedant warning. By responding you are agreeing to a very narrow discussion. Thank you for engaging this point of contention if you choose to do so.

This is inaccurate. my proof is that I know people who are unhappy with the mob mentality around murder being okay. People who dont even make as much as i do, and while i consider myself poor, i recognize im above my areas minimum wage. Additonally I am not a wealthy elite and care about this to the degree that it could be a problem for us non elites if things go badly

I personally midly concerned about what problems this might be showing us. Im not in a position to address or research them and dont claim that what i can see might happen is going to happen. Im opposed to people basing significant hardline stances on unproven and or untested assumptions and predictions. But I do see, without much difficulty or effort, how mobs and pitchforks are rarely proven to be acting on good faith rationality.

So all im asking here is for you to contemplate why you were comfortable making such an easily arguable word choice and if you could be more precise in the future when you really are passionate about an argument you are making.

  • I wonder if age is a better indicator than grade. I’ve been using Firefox since before navigator 1.2 and won’t be surprised if today’s 5th graders can manage tech in circles around me.

I grew up with grandparents that couldn’t figure out how to press one button on the vcr to turn the tv back on. That button was labelled “TV-Video”

I dont have any young people in my life so i don’t know what old person things i do, but like Grampa Simpson said, it will happen to me, and I have no doubt about it already happening to me

Bonus* I’m still so happy that i discovered on my own that i can swipe left and right on the space bar button to move my cursor left and right on my android phone. That simple thing helped me out and satisfies in in a cat who caught the canary kind of way and I’m sure there are dozens of things that would improve my ability to use and navigate new tech just as much that any 5th grader could probably show me

  • I’ve been using firefox since it was still netscape navigator 1.2

I have no idea what you are even talking about.

That’s why it’s an advanced setting.

The average user is dumber than you think. I’m the case in point.

Or maybe not, since i know that all the annoying “you actually need to know what the hell any of this shit is settings, or you better be using a very good guide to change these settings” are super easy to find by going into the about:config.

Having to search through endless menus and submenus for basic settings is annoying AF. Those settings should be as easy and obvious as possible for everyone who cant use about:config to do what you need to do
