Cool! I’ve been using Loop Habit Tracker for a few years, and it doesn’t seem as focused on encouragement but just for tracking things. Which works for me.

I’ve been using HDR on Linux since February or March and it works pretty well. MPV works great (with vk_hdr_layer), and games work if you run them in Gamescope, which has its own complications but overall it’s pretty good.

Yep, all my classes they said to SSH into the Linux labs to test your code, except for my Assembly class where we had to use an ARM emulator that was only on Windows. I had to swallow a bit of my pride and remote desktop into the Windows labs instead.

Lots of people have been saying they should focus more on developing Firefox rather than doing other things like partnering with Mullvad or whatever. There are already quite a few other fediverse instances.

I got an 8bitdo controller (ultimate 2C or whatever), and it feels really nice. Except the triggers are not two-stage. And it’s smaller.

The power went out on the 19th (Washington state), so I pulled out Carved By The Garden, a solo journaling RPG that I purchased kinda on a whim but never tried. It was my first time trying a solo RPG but it went better than I expected, it got pretty intense by the end. It was a horror RPG as well, so playing in the middle of the night with no power, flashlight in one hand, was pretty cool. I was a little unsure of how well the journaling system would work but it went pretty smoothly once it got rolling.

Tonight I just played a DCC horror funnel, “Creep, Skrag, Creep”. It went pretty well, lots of characters were killed and lots of luck was burnt, people were burning eight luck at a time which I’ve never seen before. We play a lot of DCC but this was separate from our other campaigns.

Totally Accurate Battlegrounds is really fun and silly. Doom Eternal is also cool.

Station to Station is one I might get as well. I was also thinking about Last Train Home, even though it’s more of an RTS game.

Also The Crew 2 is on sale for $1, which seems like a good deal even though apparently the game is not that great.

Started playing Factorio again with a friend, been fun so far. Just today I played Tooth and Tail again which is really cool, as well as Skullgirls Second Encore which I’m not great at but is still fun.

It takes some fiddling, but I’ve been using HDR on Linux since Plasma 6 came out. If you don’t have an AMD GPU it would probably be really difficult to set up though.

Some splitscreen multiplayer games I’ve played and enjoyed:

• It Takes Two - 2 player couch. Amazing game
• Octodad - 4p. Every player controls one or two limbs of an octopus, who needs to pretend to be a normal father
• Nom Nom Galaxy - 2 player couch, 4 player online. Land on an alien planet and build a soup factory. Collect ingredients and fight against another corporation.
• Crawl - 4p. One player is a hero running through a dungeon, the other players control monsters trying to kill them. Whoever kills the hero then becomes the hero. Whoever kills the boss first, wins. Great soundtrack and art.
• Stick Fight - 4p. Competitive yet silly ragdoll combat game
• Magicka 1 and 2 - 4p. Wizard game, create spells by mixing elements and blow up a bunch of goblins.
• Stikbold! - 4p. Dodgeball game, a decent bit of skill involved. Can fight each other or against AI.
• Tooth and Tail - 4p. An RTS game that works well on controllers, you control an army of woodland creatures and have to kill / eat the others. Great soundtrack and art. Can play PvP or against AI.
• Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - 4p. Work together to pilot a spaceship and kill monsters and save people.
• Guns, Gore & Cannoli - 4p. Arcadey shoot lots of zombies side scroller.
• Treadnauts - 4p. Fight each other by driving tanks on walls
• Ultimate Chicken Horse - 4p. Design a shared platforming level with traps, so that you’re able to get to the end but the other players can’t.
• All the Lego games - 2p.
• Stardew Valley - 4p. Grow a farm and befriend villagers
• Speedrunners - 4p. Just run and do parkour faster than the other players
• the Trine games - 3p. Cooperative adventure / puzzle game.
• Wizard of Legend - 2p. Wizard roguelike
• Boomerang Fu - 4p. Fight each other by throwing boomerangs
• Kingdom Two Crowns - 2p. Side scroller town builder, protect your town against the evils outside
• Spelunky - 4p. Roguelike, delve into a cave searching for gold and riches

I got Far Cry 5 for like $7.50 on sale and have been playing it with a friend, and it’s actually been pretty fun, mostly driving around blowing stuff up with a rocket launcher.

I also got Doom Eternal, which has been more interesting than I expected; I thought it would be mostly just hold-left-click kind of gameplay, but you actually really need to think about managing ammo and positioning and cooldowns and tons of stuff like that. I feel really bad at it but it’s been lots of fun.

Like 4 or 5 years ago I bought a refurbished Pixel 2 XL for like $150 or $200 or something. Works great, I don’t need to upgrade (although storage is a little small). The only issue is it hasn’t had security updates since 2020 which is a little scary.

One bullet-heaven game I’ve been enjoying is 20 Minutes Till Dawn. Each run is 20 minutes, and you try to survive at harder and harder difficulties and with different weapons or characters. There’s also a free demo of it called 10 Minutes Till Dawn.

Yeah, maybe I was too impatient back then, but for me it felt like mostly a whole lot of work, just watering the plants every day and trying to make money.

When I picked it up again later playing splitscreen with family, and then again with a friend, then we could get hyped for some goal we could all work towards. And if I was bored doing my thing then I could look over at what other people were doing, or just chat. And it’s fun to see them running around interacting with the NPCs and doing their things as well.

Sometimes it can be a little annoying yeah, like if they want to do something together while I’m busy watering the plants or whatever.

It does have assist options if that’s what you want, Game Maker’s Toolkit actually made a video about it. I haven’t finished it myself but it was pretty fun, even just exploring and getting the story bits and such.
