I hope Trump is dumb enough to spend years hollowing the military out instead of doing the easy things. All he has to do in red states is convince the governors to use their National Guard. If they’re under state orders there’s no legal conflict. And in blue states he could start giving badges to the Proud Boys or whoever, (literally anyone willing to do his bidding) and set them loose as federal agents.

What the old officer corps is really afraid of here is the destruction of military norms and institutions.

To be fair if Ukraine’s borders froze today they would spend the next period making themselves extremely hard to invade. Everything to now has been with foreign training assistance and materials in a kind of emergency mode. What happens when they spend the next several years in a war economy, building minefields, and training/indoctrinating people?

Michigan has a key voting demographic that knows the people in Gaza. They are families and friends. You’re asking them to vote for the person helping to kill family and friends. This was never a rational thing.

That’s rather short sighted. Yeah you avoid the worst this time. But then next time it’s all even further right. Do you just keep voting for the person who’s not as far into the right, even as they keep running in that direction? They say voting is like getting on a bus, you don’t go straight there. But you also don’t take a bus in the complete wrong direction.

Here’s a link to the actual poll, in battleground states it was 33-20 Economy-Gaza. The Economy was the bigger issue. Would Gaza have been enough to put her over the line? We can’t know without a different poll asking people who did vote if that would have made them stay home. Basically, you can’t get that 20 percent without an unknown percent considering a tough on Israel Stance a deal breaker.

Once you’ve spent some time the algorithm learns what you like. For example my feed is a lot of indie music, civil rights, and table top role-playing stuff. Once it gets enough information on the stuff you like you don’t really need to do more than swipe past the ads.

They mean we won’t even abide by our own laws anymore. While our political elite love to yeet the military all over the world, the rank and file has been largely subject to international laws of war while overseas.

Now they want the rank and file to have as much impunity as our political elite.

It’s any app they can point to as being controlled. It does not matter where it is based. As an example they could allege that one of the owners of Discord has Russian contacts and is therefore controlled by a foreign adversary. (He was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine; where contact between Russians and Ukrainians wasn’t uncommon before the current war.)
