Just your normal everyday casual software dev. Nothing to see here.

bow tie for sure
I think a big reason is, people always think it’s an all or nothing migration. Personally I still have a windows install on my system from when I migrated. Sure I can count on one hand the number of times ive had to actually use it, nor have I had to at all in the past few months, but it’s there in case I needed it.
I think people would be much more apt to do that, if they could realize that you can “try it” and if it doesn’t work then switch back again without much difficulty. Which most user friendly installs support dual booting, and the worse case scenario from it is that Windows decides to nuke the bootloader (which doesn’t happen as much anymore due to it changing to UEFI boot) and then at the end of the day, they still have the windows OS to fall on, and the linux OS still exists, it just doesn’t know its there which is a simple fix with just a google search and a boot repair disk (available on the same install medium that the original install was done with)
honestly, if they did this right, it might be a good film. the game itself seems to have a pretty valid storyline and I could see an amazing action movie out of it
this is actually protocol at Walmart for exchanges. if you buy a game that is opened and try to return it you can’t return it, you can only exchange it. but since obviously you are getting a new game they open the seal for you to ensure that the person doesn’t just turn around and return it unopened in another store.
I agree with it on exchanges. I don’t think it’s a good idea for actual new sales though, I would be more on board of just opened all video game merchandise by default and selling it full price as open box, but that also causes issues with the return process, as there is no proof the game wasn’t used, it would need to force the return policy to be a no return once purchase policy like how video game CVP’s are.
Honestly the better option is just make it so video game merch is gift card only for returns. Receipt required + can only get it back as a gift card would be a better option, as they would then need to find a seller for the gift card to convert it to money, and at that point they would just use a different defrauding system.
The downside of this is, it momentarily screws over people who accidentally buy the wrong game, or buy a duplicate game someone else got them, but they could just swap that game out for a new game (or anything else in the store) as an alternative. An option which is still far better than merchants who generally have a strict no return once bought policy.
This is also assuming that the issue is at the store level with someone abusing the return system. This could 100% be someone at assembly level defrauding the cases, and there isn’t anything the store level can really do about that without screwing over legitimate customers with the return process.
$2000… yea that’s a little ridiculous. That’s almost the cost of my entire build alone lmao
Thank you for providing a perfect example. It’s manipulative or delusional to say that the fault of the country is exclusively one party. It’s how we got in this situation in the first place. The amount of partisanship that this country has is ridiculous, especially when the go-to response for anything going wrong is well look at the other side. The US as a whole needs to do better, nobody’s going to get anywhere if it’s just the blame game. Both sides can be at fault, blame is not unilaterally one way nor is it equal levels. I’m not downplaying either sides position, but I’m not going to ignore what’s happening in the country.
Being said I’m not engaging further in this, I don’t want it to devolve into a political thread as its not the purpose of this, I was just making a one off comment on the irony of it all.
The stupidest thing about this whole entire thing about net neutrality.
The entire reason the FCC was created was to prevent the committee from being governed by the government process to avoid corruption for the exact circumstances we’re seeing here
Saying that the Supreme Court and the appeals court has any area of saying what the FCC is legally allowed to do is laughable, as the entire reason for the committee being isolated from the standard Executive Administrative branches was to prevent government overreach like they’re doing currently.
This is 1,000% them saying hey you’re an isolated committee that we can’t touch but you’re not allowed to do the one thing that your committee is supposed to do
Corruption all the way to the top. It’s the American way, ironically I think the slogan “drain the swamp” works for both parties, as it’s clear that the people that are in charge aren’t willing to actually uphold the commitment they’ve made to the people.

Yeah this is the way. Most companies will have aliases for departments that mass send into a managed inbox or if its one person they have an actual email and then their role is an alias that redirects to their email.
position changes are as easy as just moving the alias to the new person in the position, this let’s your externals be able to use the same email without having to keep the same email account for everything.
Ah, so the reason they finally got something the users cared about, is because a team that wasn’t theirs made it. Makes so much more sense now.
This is my boat with fish shell at the moment, like I started learning how to make scripts with it, and I very quickly realized that it’s definitely a minority shell, and that it’s not worth it to make scripts for, it’s missing functionality that normal bash has and has zero functionality with existing Scripts so I’m finding myself having to switch to bash anyway for most scripting.
I never really tried zsh, I might tinker with it if it does have that functionality as that’s the part I really like about fish
Practice.
Practice.

That’s really the best I can give you. The more you use the commands the easier they come to you.
Even novices can struggle with the command line. Don’t be afraid to search online for answers. I still need to look up arguments for things that I don’t use daily and I’ve been using Linux for almost 20 years now. Duck duck go and man are your friends.
One thing that I have found nice is using a shell that remembers what you have typed in the past because sometimes I will remember part of a command but not the whole thing, for example fish shell remembers commands and will start to auto fill commands that are typed as long as I have the beginning of the command correct and as long as I have typed the command in the past, which works wonders when you’re doing similar commands but with different file names or you are trying to remember the more advanced portions of git
A side note that I want to add regarding alternative shells be aware that every shell has its own strengths and weaknesses, for example fish shell is amazing for auto completion and plug in support, but it’s downside is it’s not compatible with standard bash Scripts and scripting as a whole on it is pretty mediocre
I default to tar -xvf and if that fails I google
I remember it due to the trinity on the keyboard, x skip a letter v then force the tip with f
eXtract Verbosely File just never really caught on for me
Hard agree, if you are trying to actively convince me to click on your link using an alternative front end for YouTube is the greatest way to prevent me from clicking on it in the first place. I’ve had enough experience with them not working that I just don’t bother.
That’s not to say I’m going to click on an actual YouTube link either, but you have a significantly higher chance of me clicking on a YouTube link then one of those alternate front ends that I can’t guarantee safety or stability of.
Just give me the original source and if I wanted to go elsewhere I can go elsewhere.
That’s what I’m thinking, I’ve never even heard of this game so now gotta go check it out
Okay I’m back, and just looking at it I’m real concerned about these sandbox aspect of it, most of what I liked about satisfactory was the free roam but guided adventure, and sandboxes don’t generally have that
Tmux is so much better than screen, and yes that is the hill I will die on
Specially when confined with tmuxp , it’s how I handle Game servers that can run headless to start at boot without losing access to giving commands to the server via its server console
Considering that the average pay for doordash workers are usually between 15 to 20 an hour, I’m guessing that 27 an hour is before taking out for expenses.
27 an hour becomes 22.8/h after taxes (assuming you are in a state with no state income tax) minus whatever paid for fuel expenses, and that’s before you take into consideration the wear and tear on the vehicle and unless you are flying under the radar(bad idea they’ll refuse your claim or even drop you) the increase Insurance costs for using the vehicle commercially
Honestly, I’m surprised insurance companies don’t actively pursue this. Like doing a side gig such as this would very easily increase the possibility of claims because you’re on the road, so financially speaking it would make sense for them to try to partner through those delivery apps or Research into whether someone is doing it professionally on the side.
Then again I guess it is more financially Justified for them to just milk your insurance money up until the point that you get into an accident and then deny your claim there for being a gig worker
Most content creators that I know have either openly stated that they prefer it shutting down because it’s such a royal pain in the ass to use TikTok since it’s audience is so different than their other platforms, or have said they stopped using it without showing a position, the only reason they used it in the first place is because that’s where the audience is but they would much prefer other alternatives
