I feel like the GUI’S and user experience have barely changed in the last ten years since I started using linux. You still need to use the terminal for basic things like installing WiFi drivers when your distro didn’t automarically install it and smooth scrolling on a trackpad has been garbage for years.

Needing to fiddle to install basic drivers on a 2012 macbook air is kinda unacceptable in this day and age. I had to pull put a USB Ethernet jack and go through three updates and restarts for the drivers to finally pop up. I like tinkering so I don’t mind, but a regular person with basic computer skills would have no clue what to do.

The constitution is an living document. The founding fathers created it as something that changes with the times. As long as the law is amended to the constitution it can’t be ruiled unconstitutional because it IS a part of the constitution. It takes a 2/3rds majority to amend the constitution and the president has to sign off on it though I think the pres can be sidestepped with a super majority vote. Amendments can be removed too with enough votes. If congress and the president decided that our government wanted turn into a monarchy then they would need to amend a monarchy into the constitution and they’d have to vote on removing term limits from the constitution. If congress decided that every one has a right to a free Nintendo switch 2 then that could be amenended too and then every american would receive a Nintendo switch. Anything can be amended!

Federal law isn’t part of the constitution and the supreme courts can rule any law unconstitutional of it violates any of the amenents. Abortion was never amended and thats why states can get away with outlawing abortion while other states can allow it.

This system only works if the checks and balances are actually working and the laws are enforced. The founding fathers knew the system would break down one day and thats why we have the second amendment.

There was a guy named Steve Panky who ran for governor in Idaho a few yeaes ago and he was convicted of stalking and murdering a little girl back in the 80’s. He had a decent shot at winning too. If he had won I don’t think he would have been convicted.

Republicans are already ignoring constitutional amendments like separation of church and state with teachers having to teach the holy bible in Oklahoma. The right doesn’t even need to rule something as unconstitutial the supreme court simply ignores them

Thanks for letting know about system safety, I just removed it. Play store said my xperia isn’t compatible with AICore so I got lucky with that. Wish I could switch to lineage buty bootloader is locked.

If this is pushed through a silent update then I’ll use adb to remove it. I don’t need a useless ai assistant hogging precious memory.

I feel bad for for the folks who have their phone gimped overnight and they won’t have no clue why. So many people with older phones are going to need to upgrade because of this forced update. Talk about e-waste.

I bought this 5 III with the expectation of flashing lineage onto it. The hold up is that japanese carriers like Docomo lock the bootloader. There was to unlock the bootloader by using a paid service from a company called Canadian Wireless that send you a service code that unlocks these Japanese Xperia phones. What I didn’t know was that Sony killed the servers that send the unlock code back in last June so now I’m stuck on the stock ROM. No biggie though, like you’ve been saying the stock ROM is close enough to ASOP ROM that its not that big of a deal. Having security updates would be preferable though.

Hopefully by the time I upgrade to the 1 VI lineage will be available. Until then I’m happy with what I got.

I’m totally interested in trying out the newer camera app. The camera app that comes with the 5 III isn’t very good, face detection isny very good and auto mode isnt great. I just haven’t gotten around to looking for the APK’s from the newer phones so that would save me a lot of time.

That’s pretty neat, I think that’s a great example of how machine learning being useful for everyday activities. Face detection on cameras has been a big issue ever since the birth of digital photography. I’m using a Japanese 5 III that I picked up for $130 and its been great. I’ve heard of being able to side load camera apps from other Xperias onto the 5 III so I’ll give it a try.

I think Sony makes great hardware and their phones have some classy designs and I’m also a fan of their DSLR’S. I’ve always admired there phones going back to the Ericson Walkmans, their designs have aged amazingly. I apreciate how close to stock Sony’s Xperia phones are, I dont like UI’s and bloatware you cant remove. My last Android phone a Galaxy S III was terrible in that regard and put me off from buying another Android until recently. I was actually thinking about getting a 1 VI as my next phone and install lineage on it now that I’m ready to commit.
