I would wager the OP meant American democracy. Not global democracy. But you’re right that we Americans should speak as if there are other people out there other than us.

Perhaps we’ll be the cautionary tale for the next generation.

I’m at this point in my life where I feel like it doesn’t really matter what happens to me personally. But, I do have two children, and I am sad for them at the thought of what kind of world they’ll be inheriting. They genuinely deserve better than what they seem to be getting.

Can someone smarter than me (I know, it’s a low bar) explain how DEI is unconstitutional? Especially when it comes to private enterprises like Apple and Costco?

Edit: okay, I found a decent article that lays it out. While I agree with the basic premise, I know its effect won’t be more equality.

Women in America (other countries too I’m sure) have been (and still are to some extent) treated like objects or property of a man. It’s barely been over 100 years (1910) since they finally earned their right to vote. It wasn’t until the 60s that no-fault divorce was allowed, as well as women being able to have their own bank accounts.

Even the Charleston Heston movie Soylent Green perpetuated the property stereotypes by calling all women in the movie “furniture”.

We’re still fighting some of these same battles today (no-fault divorce seems to be on the chopping block, and abortion is banned again).

So we “1st-world” Americans as a country still have a long way to go to bringing women (and other non-white male groups) to genuine equality.

I hope I’m wrong, but it wouldn’t surprise me if everything recently wasn’t according to plan. Everyone stalls the trials long enough to get Trump elected, and now that he’s elected, let the trials continue until he’s found guilty. Use that as a means to impeach Trump from office, and then replace him with a younger, less smelly, boot licker that’s easier to control.
