All I want to know is if used AMD cards will finally get reasonable pricing or not… In Canada it’s still about 5-600$ for a 6800XT, a 4 year old card

I’m starting to think that Trump may have promised them a big tax break or something if they pivoted to an alt-right platform. Despite what people say, Meta’s platforms and the company itself was always pretty Democrat in terms of rules (not talking about the moderation here). For example they removed the LGBT chat backgrounds, but these had to be added at some point. Idk this pivot seems too fast, it feels like they are trying to prove something rather than actually being MAGA. Kind of like they are playing pretend.
For me it’s the part where they say things like “we were Maga for all this time but we were afraid to say it” and then in a single day the company does a complete 180? A change like this would have been more progressive in my opinion, meta is a large company and they have been doing A/B testing for a long time. It really surprises me that they would do something like this so fast
I literally implied the opposite of what you’re saying but okey
…they shot the guy?? Stop trying to make everything a racism and a fuck the cops argument, it muddies the arguments against police brutality
That’s not true, why do you lie? The community notes I have seen are very reasonable and are not used to harass people but rather to correct lies or misleading information
Community notes are an actually good feature of Twitter. It’s a good thing they are copying it
Pretty much yeah
Proton is still a for-profit company, the change that happened was that the for-profit company was no longer owned by a single or multiple people (that can sell it whenever they want). Instead now proton is owned by the non profit that can’t be sold
They got that Sespi and that 8Down
While I like that the church is less popular, you are right. A sense of community is needed for a social species like us humans. This is how street gangs work, they recruit young and probably lost/lonely kids and make them feel like they are part of something.
What is it with these articles painting gen z as 4 year olds lmao
Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works are both really good. IIRC .world is hosted in Germany and sh.ithust.works in Canada east coast
Looks like an issue with your windows install. I would check in the settings that you’re not in power saving mode or something like that, it could reduce the power allocation for the GPU and CPU, and it may also disable the dedicated GPU when enabled. It’s true there are some games that are faster in Linux, but it’s usually within 5-10% of Windows, not over double the performance
Billionaires don’t really buy bunkers for themselves, they often buy them as hotels for the people who can afford to pay an extra rent all year long. The way it usually works is paranoid people will pay for a room inside the bunker, for a monthly or yearly fee to guarantee them a room in case of a disaster
The point is definition doesn’t matter, it’s the viewing distance + pixel density that matters. This is what apple calls retina: when we stop seeing the individual pixels (jagged edges) at a normal viewing distance. This means that a phone will need a much higher pixel density than a desktop or tv. But the low-dpi displays we still have are unacceptable in 2024 the icons and text look so ugly…
I can definitely see the difference between a 1440p 27 inch display vs a 5k 27 inch display, add in high refresh rate and HDR and you already are close to exceeding the DP 2.0 maximum bandwidth (without display stream compression). I wish we could finally get decent high DPI monitors on desktops that aren’t made by or for apple Macs
Yeah… a headphone jack is nice for charging and listening at the same time, but I’ll say it, the 10$ usb-c apple dongle does the job just fine and covers 99% of use cases. Plus it can also be used on devices with shitty DACs because the dongle is essentially one and it’s pretty good as well
I wish gnome would do the same and show a notification in December as well
I have an Nvidia GPU and suspend/resume works about 20% of the time so my PC is shutdown every time I won’t use it for a few hours. Don’t use my personal computer that much so it doesn’t really bother me a lot. My laptop is however long the battery lasts with the lid closed, I don’t use it much so most times I pick it up it’s dead.
