movies@piefed.social•Jezebels, race kink and Cardi B: in One Battle After Another, Black women are still stereotypes
1·7 days agoMy favourite part of the article is where she writes:
Sorry to complicate your enjoyment of your new favourite film. I know pointing this out risks upsetting those Letterboxd loyalists who can brook no challenge whatsoever to their favourite film-maker. To them I say: please don’t worry yourselves unduly about Anderson’s feelings. He’s a big boy. I promise you; he can take it.
I still think it’s a great film, with one of the greatest cinematic car chase scenes, but having read the article, I can see why it has problematic depictions of black women.

3·17 days agoThere is no denying that Novara Media has a left-wing bias, however is there any news outlet that has unbiased reporting of this conflict?

London@feddit.uk•The 15 Best Bakeries In London in 2025, According To The TelegraphEnglish
2·18 days agoThank you, that really made my day! As much as I want to change the world, I do also love a croissant, and those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. After all, several of those bakeries - E5 Bakehouse and The Dusty Knuckle - are involved in programmes helping refugees and prison leavers.

London@feddit.uk•‘She can’t vanish’: Community mourns death of beloved local homeless womanEnglish
3·21 days agoAs the article states, lots of people in the community cared for her when she was alive, and took the time to speak to her, and help her out.
It’s rather simplistic to say that if people cared then she wouldn’t be homeless. The government needs to build more affordable social housing to end homelessness.

I feel quite conflicted by this story, as I have donated to the East London Waterworks Park, and I would love to have more swimming spots in the area. Yet, I don’t want it to come at the cost of denying vulnerable children accommodation, if no other suitable sites are available.
