However, there is with badge.team also a similar app platform which they used on https://flow3r.garden/, on the MCH22-badge and the now in preorder namatsu: https://shop.nicolaielectronics.nl/products/tanmatsu?variant=55608856183133 (which I just ordered two of)
pietervdvn@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.ml•World passes 30% renewable electricity milestone for the first time, decline of fossil inevitable7·1 year agoThis article is about global electricity production, not all energy combined. This is an important nuance, as much energy consumption uses fossil fuels directly, namely cars, many (older) house or industrial processes. Only a small fraction of this is electricity, and in the grander scheme, the “renewable” part is only a fraction: https://ourworldindata.org/energy-production-consumption.
So, while this is a step in the good direction, it is only a very small one.
@BlackLaZoR@BlackLaZoR@kbin.run would you mind updating the title to reflect this?

It started downloading a ton of stuff, and half an hour later I was greated by a (slow) macOS, good enough to do some tests of my webapp on Safari.

Yes. I’m mostly developing a website, and testing on another browser is necessary every now and then. But that is my only use reason.
My main browser used to be firefox till tw9 weeks qgo, but it started to be buggy so it’s LibreWolf now.

pietervdvn@lemmy.mlOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•PSA: the OpenStreetMap-community has arrived to Lemmy as wellEnglish2·2 years agoNo. Both package the same OSM-data, but they use a different binary format.
Look for a local hackerspace, they might have the right connections. Most of them have regular (often weekly) ‘social nights’ where you can hang out.
Https://Mapcomplete.osm.be/hackerspaces has an (incomplete) listing
pietervdvn@lemmy.mltoReddit@lemmy.ml•"Teddit is Shutting Down. Lemmy is the New Reddit"31·2 years agoWell, I’m doing my best to get the !openstreetmap@lemmy.ml community started. Once there is enough activity here, the critical mass becomes self-reinforcing and it takes off.
And it’s not as if all of Reddit will switch over right away - Twitter is still somewhat alive too; but Mastodon gained enough momentum now to actually matter and to be at a sustainable level.
Sorry, but HERE-maps does not use OSM data. They list their sources here: https://legal.here.com/en-gb/terms/general-content-supplier-terms-and-notices
Google is supposed not to copy OSM…
Have a look at https://openstreetmap.community/ and https://osmcal.org/
pietervdvn@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?English9·2 years ago
Ooohh!! Please, post a bit in the lemmy community as well.
Hi! Wrong sub? No worries, our
subredditcommunity (!openstreetmap@lemmy.ml) is right here as well!Did you also know that Apple Maps and Bing Maps use OSM data too in some areas, for some types of categories? Bing even has cloned an OSM-editing program.
Furthermore, you can use https://mapcomplete.osm.be to add shops or other POI. (Obligatory shill as I’m the main dev of that one ;) )

Yes, but actually, no. For a ton of projects, Github is an important resource. It is the main collaboration tool through the issue trackers, offers hosting and continuous integration. If it fell of the earth today, a lot of projects would scramble and have a lot of lost (meta)data.
If they were to announce that they would shut down in three months time, those same projects would scramble as well to migrate - which is also a bit chaotic, but less so.
And: many projects are switching away right now. I moved mapcomplete to a selfhosted forgejo instance since a few months ('cause I don’t trust github no more), Organic Maps moved just now cause they got a (temporary) ban. One of their contributors was apperantly from a US-sanctioned country (more info about them here: https://en.osm.town/@organicmaps@fosstodon.org).
