This is a major L take. Your argument is to compare bad behavior performed by a 5 year old child and a grown adult, and say “they are basically equivalent”. The Internet is trying to point out to you how ridiculous it is to hold a 5 year old and professional adult to the same standards.

The teacher is hands down “the asshole” in this scenario, and I am saying this as a professional public school teacher. Yes, the five year old was wrong to steal, but the kid is five and is in the process of learning what society considers right and wrong. The teacher escalated the scenario due to her bigotry and then expected the father to be susceptive to her concerns about the child stealing stuff. She should have professionally address the behavior to the child’s parents and admin (especially if it was repeated behavior) so that the team can help the child understand why what they are doing is incorrect.

But you make a point, perspective is everything. Folks in middle america do not see their privilege as much because a lot of them live in towns full of other white people. This means they are largely of the same caste. Nevertheless, they are essentially being convinced that their grievances are due to dangerous people of color elsewhere in America.

That is frankly false, and also my biggest gripe about the modern communist movement. Racism is basically America’s caste system. If the caste system isn’t destroyed either before or during the class warfare, then it will either reform after a revolution or prevent people from banding together to form a revolution in the first place.

Telling people that racism is a distraction to be ignored is a major mistake. If the modern communist movement wants their class revolution, then this would be far easier (or actually possible) in a America without racism. Hence, why bosses have been perpetuating Racism in America for hundreds of years.

I understand, and I wish we could just halt some of the actions of those in power here in America, but that is not a realistic ask.

Also, you should care. Because there is a major difference between the prior genociders and the current genociders in power. The Trump administration dehumanizes the Palestinians, so they have zero ethical qualms about allowing the genocide to continue. In fact, they want to speed it up so that they can put a “ended the conflict between Israel and Palestine” trophy up on their proverbial shelf.

At least the Biden/Harris administration viewed the Palestinians as human beings still and were wrestling with the ethical violation. Now, I wish they did better. With a president Harris, there would at least been some hope that she would eventually put Palestinians lives ahead of geopolitical goals. With a Trump administration, there is miniscule hope that they will ever side with the Palestinians.

Hi there. This is the second thread I’ve seen you post this rhetoric. As an American who lives 6000 miles away from Israel, what exactly are you expecting? You want us to all take up arms, fly over the Atlantic Ocean and fight? If you are going to harshly condemn Americans actions, then at least provide a reasonable alternative to these actions.

The reality is Americans are doing this because elections is a way a lot of us feel like we can make a difference (regardless of the validity of these beliefs). To people who lack the ability to make predictions, the presidential election seemed like a lose/lose scenario regarding the topic of the Genocide of Palestinians. To people who have the ability to make predictions, they understood that voting Trump into power would result in more harm coming to the Palestinians, so we reluctantly went out and voted for Harris.

Here we are today, and most of our predictions regarding Trump is coming true, so some of us are now trying to rub it in the faces of the Americans who probably should have voted for Harris, but decided to sit home or vote third party on election day…

You and others interpret Michael Moore’s messages as being smug and/or obnoxious, but there are a lot of other people who listen to his messages without animosity. The reality is the nature of conversation is complicated: the result relies on how information is produced by the speaker AND how it is interpreted by the listener. So the root of the problem is twofold. It’s not just that people are having a hard time speaking to those outside their circle. It is also that people are having a hard time listening to those outside their circle. The blame is not on the left or the right, it’s on both. Both exist in their own circle jerk, and neither groups are able to talk and listen to each other.

I think the fact that we all aligned once this CEO died reveals why this division is important those in power (Top 1%, billionaires, and multi-millionaires). If we did all team up, these people in power would be in trouble. Instead, we are being divided into two sides that cannot even communicate with each other. Okay, this notion is just incorrect. Harris, during her time as senator, was one of the most left leaning senators out of all Democrats. Her votes almost completely aligned with Bernie Sanders.

Was misogyny THE reason Harris loss, probably not; but it definitely played a meaningful role. During the campaign race, there were a lot of information being pushed to American citizens. It was up to us to process the information and choose what to believe and what to throw away. Post-election, we are learning that people were judging Harris based on false premises. Americans were willing to believe a lot of bullshit about Harris, whereas Trump got the opposite treatment: Americans willingfully ignored terrible truths about Trump. I think misogyny played a role in defining this difference in how we treated information regarding each candidates.

The irony: This is basically what we have. When it comes to action, as senators, Kamala and Bernie voted the same way on most issues. Obviously, they are not the same people, but their viewpoints led to more or less the same voting actions.

You realize that you’re currently being con’d. Netanyahu wants Trump to win the presidential election, because he knows Trump will be friendly towards his genocidal actions. Netanyahu is doing everything in his power to extend this genocide so that he can stay in power; and so that he can keep single issue voters like you away from the polls.

Netanyahu knows that if he ended Israel’s genocide before the election, the Biden administration would receive credit in playing a role in mediating the conflict. This would likely assure a Harris victory. By escalating the conflct, he is assisting Trump. Why would you think that this genocidal maniac is doing this?

So here you are, the single issue voter that is tuning out all of the other important issues. For example, Trump considers communist (all you genius tankies) some of the biggest enemies in the USA; or how Trump backers and policymakers wants to remove women’s right to make decisions about their bodies.

Do I believe that Biden/Harris has done enough to help Palestinians? The answer is no. Do I believe Biden/Harris feels like Netanyahu and the Israeli government are in the wrong? Yes. Do I believe Trump feels like Israel is in the wrong? No.

So even if this is your single issue, as an American living thousands of miles from Israel, your best way to assist Palestinians right now is to put someone in the Whitehouse who at least views them as human-beings. By not voting or voting third-party, you’re not helping anyone but yourself. You are doing it so you don’t need to “feel bad” about crossing some morale boundary.

Listen man, if that’s the route you want to go, then fine. But I’m gonna go ahead and waltz my sorry butt to the polls and cast my vote for the person who will more likely do something to assist Palestinians even if I feel like I’m crossing a moral boundary. Am I gonna feel good doing it? No. But it’s the better decision to make, especially considering all the other important issues that surround this election beyond the Palestinian genocide.

You are making such a useless point that requires minimal effort or thought. It would be better if you actually shared a tangible concern rather than providing a strawman argument meant to cause an irrational fear in people reading your comment.

For example, you could have shared which group of people you want to be a protected class and is not by Irish law; or which group of people is currently a protected class by Irish law and should not be. At least, then, you would have brought up a real concern about how the Irish government is determining hate speech; because right now, all you are doing is fear mongering.

This is a fair point, but a general premise to Marxism is a bloody revolution where the working class takes the assets from capitalist bosses. Perhaps some Marxist are interested in alternative methods, but the group of communist members with which I was able to discuss this topic with were not concerned with that.

They demonized and dehumanized capitalist and talked about them as if they were not worth saving, and it was this kind of rhetoric that turned me off from their cause.

Though, it was also their rhetoric which presumed racism and sexism would be solved if we all just view eachother as workers. This seemed to underplay the effects these caste systems have on people.

Is it possible that there is a better a solution to the issues of Capitalism which doesn’t involve the liquidation of entire groups of people?

Being a person who have visited communist meetings, this is my biggest gripe with the ideology. Yes, capitalism today has become corrupted, perhaps even beyond repair. But, I refuse to believe that the only solution is to round up and kill the capitalist bosses in order to bring back power to the working class. At this point, we would be dehumanizing an entire group of people which wouldn’t make us much better than what the far-right does.
