Same rule would quite honestly improve Lemmy quite a bit.
Not because of political reasons, but because it gets annoying opening any news post, expecting interesting discussion, and getting a bunch of versions of “eAt tHe rIcH” and guillotine comments instead.

I mean, a lot of it is just people who started using chatgpt to do some simple and boring task (writing an email, CV, or summarizing an article) and started thinking that it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
I would know that since I’m a university student. I know the limitations of current AI stuff so I can cautiously use it for certain tasks and don’t trust the output to be correct. Meanwhile, my friend thought that he was making chatgpt better at answering his multiple choice economics quiz by telling it which of the answers it gave was wrong…
I mean if Turkey can just decide to change it’s name and everyone has to respect it (not me Turkey it is), I don’t see why this is different
The problem is that Lemmy isn’t at the point where I can browse it like I do on Reddit.
After the API thing killed my main reddit app, I just lurk on like 4 1 million+ user sports/video game/military meme subreddits and check on them every 1h/30min to see 10 new posts or any important news that happened. I check r/all maybe like once every few months.
The relevant lemmys just aren’t that active or don’t have low-effort post rules, so I’m kind of stuck browsing the front page of Lemmy if I want to see more than 10 posts per day
At the same time, sometimes driving license requirements feel like they are too high and a racket.
I got my scooter license by answering 48/50 questions right and doing a 4 hour practical course at the driving center to get it on the same day. I paid $50 to do it.
This license allows me to drive a 50cc bike like an Aprilia RS50, which can hit the speed limit when I drive it on the same roads as everyone else.
First aid is fair enough, but why do I have to pay $1500 to attend a driving school and answer 100 questions or pay $80 to take the 2% chance of passing it at the license test center (because the test is graded by cops and one of the cushy jobs for them before retirement is as advisors at driving schools) to be able to ride something that is marginally faster and heavier?
Can confirm the semi thing, worked for a national post carrier for few months and sometimes had to help load and unload trucks for international shipments.
It would basically be us playing Tetris with the packages until about chest level, then someone would have to climb on top of that stack to fill it up to the ceiling. The smaller stuff and mail bags just get yeeted into whatever gap that exists.
Even after all that, there wouldn’t be much space left, so package your stuff well I guess

Also, I’d say that odds also favour places that nobody really gives a shit about, like sure, US, UK, China, Russia, large parts of Europe, and North Korea are probably guaranteed to be nuclear craters, but I doubt that any of the missiles are pointed at Africa or most of South America
Because as long as the Russian state exists and can point to their “history” as an empire and use it as an excuse to take over their neighboring countries (like Latvia, the place where I’m from), I won’t be satisfied.
Unfortunately nobody is bombing Moscow yet, so anything that isolates and makes the population more angry and can hopefully topple the government is a good thing in my book

Specific forums for certain things are still the best.
I have an Aprilia motorcycle from 1999, and the Aprilia forum has 20 years of info, discussion, and advice on that specific motorcycle.
It is also a bit surreal seeing someone reply to my question and see that they joined the forum itself back when I was less that 1 years old.
Meanwhile me with a 1500 YouTube music video playlist of liked music and a pile of CDs that I bought used, featuring the artists in that playlist

To play the devil’s advocate, they could be putting that random junk there to see if they can find out other categories of things that you like.
I mean, there are things that you are just more interested in than others.
Tinkering with electronics and coding some kind of “complicated” method of cheating for some people would be way easier than studying, especially if the cheating is through something that already is your hobby.
I can work on my motorcycle and fix various things for hours and not mind a thing, but if you ask me to study a chapter from my production management textbook, I’m going to complain all the way
Same feelings here, I used to average around 1k hours per year in my “active” years.
All of the issues with CS2 kinda put the end to that, played the beta, then stopped for a year, and now I play few games every few days
