The point of saying “the American pays the tariff” isn’t to say that the seller makes the same amount. It’s to emphasize that the seller won’t absorb that cost, which is the lie Trump is selling.

This is a definition problem I think. I don’t use the word “responsible” to mean sole ownership. For example. We are all responsible for the cleanliness of our roads. It is a shared responsibility that we all participate in.

And, I think, we are all responsible for modeling good behaviors for people to emulate.

Of course it does. You’re only ever responsible for yourself.

And that mentality does not lead to good things.

Oh yes. Pushing personal responsibility to the end user has always been a very effective security strategy.

Nothing you said negates the fact that a first past the post voting system always devolves into two parties. Add an electrical college, and you’re even more locked in.

Given that one of the two parties WILL be in charge, you get to vote against which one you hate more.

Don’t lie to yourself and think that a vote is supporting a side. That’s not how it works in America. Your vote is against whoever you hate most.

Now if you hate both sides equally, you don’t care about your neighbors at all. Even though it’s all orchestrated, and pretend, and both sides are owned by corporations, and neither side will fight capitalism, there’s a clear better and a clear worse when it comes to quality of life for our neighbors.

If you don’t like the fact that there’s only two options, you either need to push for ranked choice voting, which means working with one of the existing parties to implement it. Or you need to get out. There is no other way to escape this system.

I’ll bite.

The risk is training people in bad behaviors, and then having those people do stupid things like type in a password.

Your next president is red or blue. The system is rigged to make this so, and no amount of wishing changes that.

Behave accordingly.

We should be voting in primaries, protesting in blue cities, writing to our reps, and running in elections.

Saying they’re the same is just silly though. That’s tapping out.

Our fight is not Left/Right anymore, it is Us vs.Them.

And yet your next leader will be blue or red. And if you do nothing to improve either one of those, it will be the shittiest blue or red they have.

You can’t just opt out of the two party system. Ignore it to your peril, or use it to further your cause.

In many states, you’re technically not able to alter the license plate or put stickers on it. But cameras don’t know how big things are supposed to be. So put a frame around your license plate with all sorts of crazy.
