Arkham Knight was the first I noticed it really bad on, no RT present. Since then it seems most Unreal titles suffer from it in some kind of way.

I remap a lot of my controls to try and be uniform across games as they can be.
My main thing is I hate it being used as a replacement for human creativity. I definitely think it has its uses. I like using DLSS and DLAA in games that support it. For the most part it’s made my gaming experience better. I see its usefulness with generating conversations for NPCs in a game. That’s crazy cool but it needs to be tiptoed around. It shouldn’t be used to replace writers, voice actors or artists.
I signed up for Midjourney a while back to see what all the hoopla is about. As I sat there refining my prompt and regenerating OVER and over and over to hopefully get something that wasn’t all fucked was such a waste of my time and an exponential waste of compute and electricity to generate what is essentially instant garbage. It’s crazy and I felt bad about using it afterwards.
Some friends were freaking out about following JD Vance on Instagram. Then they realized they had followed @vp when it was Kamala’s handle.
Baby don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me. No more.
We have an older 2012 1080p Sony 55" TV. Super thin, still works great. It had a few “smart” things it could do, like local tv guide, weather. Very simple stuff, nothing like streaming apps. Those basic smart things haven’t functioned in a while. Support ended for them a long time ago. I’ve had a negative opinion for smart TVs since then. Having those functions sitting there broken drives me nuts.
We always used some type of streaming box. Started out with some Roku’s for a long time that worked okay until they updated them enough to run like shit. Ads were never egregious but you could tell where the trend was going. A friend let me have an older Nvidia Shield TV. It was FILLED with ads for shit we didn’t care about. Google Play store shit, Nvidia shit, advertisement shit, AHHHHHHH. It too eventually was updated enough to where everything runs like shit. I looked into a lot of self contained media systems from no names on Amazon, but I just didn’t trust them. I could set up a PC to do it all and I’d be fine with it but my wife wants something easy to use.
Sooo I ended up going with an Apple TV. So far it’s been really nice. Zero ads on the home screen. It lists the previous content we were watching and then our streaming apps below it, that’s it. When you move the cursor over the Netflix or other apps it lists what you previously watched and some recommendations for other shows but it’s not in your face or moving anything around to do it. There are some apps you can’t remove, but I just made a folder and threw them all in there. It’s nice but it’s costly at around $140. So far for me, I’d say it’s worth it. We only use Netflix, Hulu and Plex on it, but all of them work great. It also supports the Steam Link app. I use it some, but I’ve started to use Moonlight that is installed on my Steam Link device instead, since the picture and stream quality is a lot better.
Secret of Mana and its remake are both co-op once you unlock the second character.
MS and Sony can push their handhelds, but I’m not looking for a locked down device to play games on. The reason the Steam Deck was such a sell for me was that it is a full PC. That I can do what I want with. I don’t want “mobile” or console gaming, because they have turned them into predatory micro-transaction mess.
I frequent Steam discussions on and off to see what morons say. BG3, Veilguard, anything they accuse of DEI or whatever. In all of my scrolling I’ve never encountered a swastika or someone just straight up being a white supremacist. I’m sure it’s there somewhere, but it’s not rampant. I also see a lot of moderation in those discussions. Goobers getting banned all the time. So if it is, I do think it’s getting moderated to some extent. That probably also falls on the game dev I guess. Not sure who controls the discussion forums.
I’m sad Little Big Planet doesn’t get this love anymore. The first two games were fantastic platformers.
You can mod the first three to get it close to par with the Legendary edition. The improvements they made in LE on all 3 make it worth playing, but if a user account is your limit I guess not. There are a ton of mods for LE now as well.
Obligatory Weekend at Winamp’s.
Does this mean the Internet Archive will no longer be archiving reddit posts? That’s how I’ve tried viewing most since I deleted my accounts.
Carbon credits are a bunch of bullshit so this probably is too.
Ah thanks. That’s what I thought. MicroSD cards are cheap enough and I boot to Windows once in a blue moon. Rather do that than adjust my partitions to give Windows a home on my device. It remains banished to the MicroSD. But yeah I could see how someone that uses Windows more frequently would want to go that route.
Got a reason why?
Trump and the like are always screaming about liberals doing witch hunts on them while they are doing very illegal shit. That’s exactly what these guys are going to do if they get a hold of power. It’s always projection.
We ended up nailing them down to plywood. They registered waaaaay better but wore out 3x as fast.
I never seem to get over 6 feet. 😆
Digital Foundry has complained about the stuttering issues in all of those games. Jedi Survivor still gets brought up.
