This bugs me. I selected between pfSense and OpnSense a few years ago and got the impression pfSense’s support and UI was better. I’m not looking forward to having reconfigure everything if switching :/

The technical terms are actually how all patents are written, so nothing special there. I don’t approve of things like this being patentable at all, but I actually expect this to be novel the way it’s written.

However, no one needs to infringe upon it - it’s trivial to change something ever so slightly so as to not do exactly what’s described here.

No the EU law does not require manufacturers to disallow unlocking the bootloader. Actually, it specifically says the law should NOT be used as an excuse to do that.

The law requires high security when it comes to the radio (baseband) part of the phone - and that has always been a separate enclave anyway compared to the OS.
