Can confirm. I’m a bit older, but when I stopped using social media it was like my aquaintances forgot I existed. Sure, close friends would usually still invite me to social events, but even that tapered off after a while. When I’d call someone out for not inviting me, their response was always “but you never shiw up to anything”. It’s not like they don’t know that I’m not on Facebook. What, you think that when you don’t invite me that I’ll just magically know it’s happening? I’m finally getting some people to use Signal groups but that has been an uphill battle.

Oh damn. That was like a proper internet 2.0 kinda experience. A feller could get used to that.

This reminds me of how I often assume a lesser known brand is a “small player” in a given industry, only to later find out that they provide parts and/or services to all of the well known brands. And the once or twice a year Epic offers a free game I actually want to play, I enjoy it just as much as if I’d bought it elsewhere.

Felt like more at the time, for all three. Guess I didn’t used to game as much as I do now. I’ve owned X4 for two weeks and I’m at 107 hours, so it’s on pace to smash those numbers.

Those Viewsonic CRT monitors were amazing. I got one cheap from someone that was “upgrading”. As if you could upgrade from a Viewsonic in the early 2000s. That thing was a beast. By far the largest and heaviest monitor I’ve ever had.

I remember when my parents offered to trade me their 32" Phillips-Magnavox for my puny little 27" because they were “trying to downsize”. I felt so fuckin cool playing Max Payne and Fable on my original Xbox.
