Summary

NATO announced the “Baltic Sentry” mission to enhance security in the Baltic Sea following recent disruptions to undersea power cables, telecom links, and pipelines, suspected to be linked to Russia.

The mission will deploy frigates, naval drones, and patrol aircraft for surveillance and deterrence.

Leaders from eight Baltic states emphasized the need to counter hybrid threats, including sabotage and cyberattacks.

While full protection is challenging due to heavy maritime traffic, officials hope the mission will reduce incidents.

For real though this sounds like an absolutely perfect sort of mission for blimp/zeppelin drones for extended surveillance of suspicious vessels. When are we gonna start doing those?
